This school year flew by! I can not believe that my first year of high school is pretty much done with. I remember registration like it was last week! First trimester seems like it was just yesterday! It sounds really weird saying I am going to be a Sophomore. I am excited to be a 10th grader though because we won't be the babies of the school anymore. Overall, this school year was good, I kind of wish it was more exciting/ fun but I had great teachers and it is

Job qualifications, attitude, communication and appearance is the order of how important I think they are. I think job qualifications is the most important because an employer is not going to hire someone who is not capable of doing the job. Attitude is the second most important because an employer wants a positive, happy, hard worker. Communication is the third most important because communicating with each other is very important. Although appearance is last, it is still important because employers will want someone who dresses well. The title of this article is, “5 Reasons Why Your Portfolio Should Be Online.” The author of this article is George Couros. The topic of this article is reasons why portfolios should be online rather than on paper in a binder. The author states that an online portfolio is much more accessible opposed to a binder portfolio. He makes a point that if an employer asks to see your portfolio and you do not have it, how would you give it to the employer? He says if the portfolio was online you could simply give them the URL and the employer could look at it any time they pleased. I believe that the eportfolio will help me a lot in the future. I do not think it would be necessary to begin creating the portfolio in elementary school. Although, it would be pretty cool to see how much you have grown and learned from such a young age. I think 9th grade was the perfect grade to create a portfolio. 9th grade is when some students start looking for jobs and it is great that they will already have this for employers to look at. For those who are not ready for a job yet will have it when they do want a job. I think this will help me to get employed because it gives me a very positive background. It shows awards I have gotten, work samples I have done good on, and helps to show the employer a little about my interests. I see the professional page and award page being the most beneficial to my future. The professional page on my portfolio shows my mission statement, resume, and a letter of recommendation. My mission statement shows a little bit about me, my resume shows the experience and skills I have, and my letter of recommendation shows I am a reliable person. My awards page shows many of my achievements. All of those are many things employers look for; having those will help me to get a job in the future. This article applies to this class, because all trimester we have been working on our own portfolios. The article proves even more how much an online portfolio could help us in the future. Expertise- expert skill or knowledge in a particular field Deem-regard or consider in a specified way An interesting fact I learned about working as a minor was all the hours the minor works each day must be recorded for the first year. I find that interesting because although I have heard about needing a work permit, being supervised while working and limited to hours I never knew that they had to keep track of how much they've worked. |
